the conservatory

i couldn’t leave las vegas before visiting the conservatory in the bellagio. i know you like these as much as the fountains ray. it was a ‘under the sea’ theme this time.

DSCN0449

it wasn’t quite as elaborate as it has been in the past. but still beautiful. i’m glad i got to share this with hannah also.

happy birthday hannah

lasvegascheers

even though we look drunk this was the first toast.  “cheers”

this is our favorite restaurant in las vegas. we’ve been going here for at least 20 years. so naturally i wanted to share it with hannah and javier.

DSCN0425

lasvegasgetthepicture

i enjoyed two espresso martinis.

DSCN0430

DSCN0427

we all enjoyed our meals too. they make the ‘skate’ (sting ray wing) the way they used to, so jerry and i had that and it was delicious.

we ended the night at the dueling pianos bar.

DSCN0432

it was a great day.

hannah leaves tomorrow and tracy leaves monday.

stay tuned for a little more.

DSCN0397

DSCN0399

and this is something new and raunchy on the street that should definetly stay in vegas.

atomic testing museum

tracy slept on the extra bed the table makes. she was so tired because of the time change she slept pretty good. we had a nice visit before going to the museum. we ate at chipotle for lunch since they don’t have them in grand forks.

stick your finger in his nose tracy.

DSCN0341

ok

i guess we all know this.

DSCN0345

and what it can do.

they quit doing above ground testing.

we all enjoyed the museum a lot. later we went to our new place to spend the night. tracy got us into the holiday resort for one night before we went to the cosmopolitan. we waited for the birthday girl  she and her boyfriend drove up. they weren’t as lucky as we were with traffic.

hey hannah

DSCN0379

we had a good visit with hannah before going downtown.

leaving long beach

we left long beach about 11:30 on thursday. we said good bye to midas and to the neighbors.

DSCN0261

DSCN0302

DSCN0301

we also said good-bye to zorro, the cat we’re babysitting, but she said “don’t bother me, i’m busy”.

DSCN0288

yes, she looks like midas.

as we hit the road, we saw they were filming a movie at the ‘petroleum club’ right near our house. it sure takes a lot of stuff.

DSCN0306

DSCN0310

DSCN0313

hi sharon. the traffic was very light the whole way to las vegas.

DSCN0316

this solar panal facility always intrigues me.

DSCN0323

these are painted rocks, out in the middle of the desert.

DSCN0326

we picked up tracy at the airport around 9pm and made our way to the circus circus rv park for a one night stay.

DSCN0332

it was good to say tracy all the way from north dakota.

everything doesn’t always stay in vegas.

stay tuned.

thank you

thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your comments. we had such a good time, I loved sharing the photos of our trip. and since I don’t have facebook like so many of you do, this is my way to do it.

we were in #22 this time. across the way you can see #6 where we stayed last time.

DSCN0144

we made it home Friday night a little sore from the horse ride. it was well worth a few sore muscles to do something so special. when you think of it, that horse is so powerful, yet he takes your commands and doesn’t throw you off.

DSCN0190

by the way it’s much harder getting off than on.

DSCN0191

strawberry had a neat brand

DSCN0153

we’ll have to a little fishing next time. this is our kind of place.

DSCN0016

my big rock at the beach

because of the drought we’ve decided to make our yard look like the beach. we live in long beach right?  and, we’re saving a lot of water. we are also are planting  butterfly and hummingbird flowers. it’s a work in progress.

and here is the rock in it’s new home. you’re allowed to take 30 pounds of rock a day, and I think this one weighed at least that.

DSCN0220.JPG

DSCN0224

we have our own little campsite at home.

DSCN0219

we even have a fire pit!

all that sand and dirt and not one animal has defiled it.

DSCN1224

midas loves rolling in it though

our next trip is in august. we’ll be going to las vegas to celebrate Hannah’s 21rst birthday and my 70th. I know what you are all thinking. you might be right. maybe,  probably. ???? you’ll want to see those pictures i’ll bet.

and I know ray can’t wait to see another picture of the fountains at the Bellagio.

DSC02096

in case you can’t wait ray, here’s one to tide you over.

we will be able to see them from our room this time.

then in September we will go to reno to see ted again. we always have such a good time with him. we’ll see our favorite things plus a few new ones. lake Tahoe for one.

so stay tuned

DSCN0007

love to all of you,

jilly

the horse ride

DSCN0168

we had to be at the stables at 7:30 this morning. it was kind of hard to get up after a late night. but we did it.

I sure didn’t want to get that big one.

DSCN0169

thankfully I didn’t. I got Wilbur and jerry got strawberry.

DSCN0210

it was a beautiful ride. a little overcast but a least it wasn’t hot. we rode for about an hour out into some of the 12,000 acres of land they own. most of the green grass has turned brown now, but it was still so beautiful.

DSCN0207

DSCN0154

DSCN0202

Wilbur was so slow. he just ambled along. never keeping up with the other horses. strawberry wanted to pass but he had to be the last horse because he didn’t get along with any of the horses, just Wilbur.

DSCN0186

strawberry kept saying hurry up.

DSCN0200

we had a wonderful breakfast with anything you could want to eat. I had the bacon made with pancake batter poured over it and cooked. so delicious.

we rode back and it was time to check out. we had a wonderful time and this will probably be one of our new favorite places.

until next time frank

the ranch

DSCN0128

the first event was the meat and greet. ha ha. they tell us all about how to buy good meat, how to trim it, how to build a fire, and then how to cook it. there’s only 40 people in the group.

look at all this tri-tip.

DSCN0133

Pasqual cooking the pork belly (yummy)

DSCN0158

brad cooking the bacon (yummmmmmmy)

DSCN0161

frank was cooking our salmon for dinner.

DSCN0165

they also serve wine and beer. this was my favorite variety of the wine.

DSCN0135

the grounds are beautiful.

DSCN0160

we met the nicest couple and ate with them every meal.

DSCN0167

we went to the spice demonsration  but just filled out bottles with lemon pepper. it’s the best.

DSCN0157

these are for you tracy. just some of the beautiful flowers they have here.

we went on the breakfast horse ride this morning.

stay tuned for that.

over and over again on our travels we learn how much the conservation corp helped rebuild America. it’s too bad they still don’t have it.

the museum had so much information it was fascinating to read all of it.
