This Halloween we decided to finally take the local cemetery tour.

We’ve walked through the cemetery but never did the tour. When Jerry got his new Minolta camera, way back when, we went one night for him to take pictures for a class he was taking. He got some interesting shots. Tracy and Tony do you remember that? It was kind of spooky. I’d show you but they were slides he took.

One of the most prominent families in Long Beach was the Bixby’s. We sat in the chairs for that one. I read Jotham Bixby was called the father of Long Beach.
here’s a little info from Wikipedia:

These actors were portraying people hired by the Bixbys to work on their ranch. It was very entertaining and fun to hear their stories of life back then. She played a cook and he was in charge of livestock.
We didn’t see their graves that day. Maybe next year?

or Hattie ⬇️ are used anymore either

there was a large population of Japanese living in long beach

It’s always interesting to walk through cemeteries. On our trips we always liked to visit them, especially the historic ones. The east has some that are very old and ornate but unfortunately not always kept up. It’s sad to see all the children that died too soon, also all the soldiers that died too young.

“who you gonna call”

It was a nice outing. The weather was not too hot, there was a nice breeze, very pleasant but bittersweet.
Hope you’re all doing well and still enjoy looking at the blog. I know I can’t please everyone all the time. But maybe ‘once in awhile and now and again’ I’ll hit the mark.🎯
so stay tuned just in case

plus you might miss a picture of Melody
here she saw that she could reach Harley, the cat, by standing in her car seat to get onto the couch.

and then look him straight in the eye.
now isn’t that adorable?
Leave it to you, Jilly! A cemetery blog! Great job- nice mix of information and human interest shots. I admire your special touch.
Enjoyed the story and pictures, and the history of the cemetary, as have always been curious. Hannah has an eye for catching great moments with Melody, and I loved the ‘show down’ pic with her Kitty, so cute. Thanks, Celia
Adorable picture of Melody and the cat. This cemetery blog reminds me of all the lives and stories that each gravestone represents. Reminds us to make the most of our lives while we can – being loving and kind and enjoying God’s creation . . . and Jill’s blogs, of course! Love, Sharon
I love cemeteries still and that’s a dandy you know it was something like that in Long Beach Ray
I do remember the photos in the cemetery at night. Dad caught a ghost in one of them – do you remember that? Maybe someone from the Bixby Ranch!?
Cemetery tours are definitely very interesting. Feels like walking through time! I love that picture of Melody and Harlee. So sweet -Hannah
