It used to an abundance of corn fields we saw across America. then soybeans started showing up. now its sunflowers. acres-acres-and more acres of them, along with the acres – acres – and acres of corn.
they are in every stage of growing, but mostly ready to be harvested. the fields are very grand looking. i wish i could capture that aspect. tracy has sent me pictures of the fields in full bloom near her and they are spectacular. i couldn’t find it tracy, do you still have to send me again?
here are some of my pictures so far
oh yeah, we see lots of cows too.

looks like a rock from a passing truck hit the windshield. it made such a loud noise, it scared us a lot. it made a interesting crack, don’t you think?

an auto parts store in selby, south dakota, came into view not long after it happened. jerry stopped and went in to get their opinion of what to do. i was worried it would get worse. the guy said, well first he said ”that’s the darndest thing” and jerry said ”no, that’s the damndest thing”. anyway he said it shouldn’t cause a problem. so it looked like the nice man knew what he was talking about so we drove on in to bismark. the capitol isnt opened today so we’re going to grand forks this morning to see tracy and daryl-yay! we’ll get daryls opinion.

Our first stop……..

i didn’t put the m in the crack on purpose, but interesting, don’t ya think?
stay tuned

Getting closer! You’ll be here before you know it. Yes – those pictures look familiar. Typical of life in the prairie (even rocks hitting windshields). It won’t let me add a sunflower picture here, so I’ll send it to you and you can share it? See you so soon.
Wow- the shmeathearts (don’t know how to spell them) making cozy with Smokey. And that bullet hole in the windshield is the weirdest thing. So glad it didn’t hurt one of you or the window family. Exceptionally nice shots of the countryside as you drove through. Your blogs are comforting and bring me along on the ride. I treasure the connection.
So sorry about your mishap. Glad you guys are okay, and the windshield too. Just when the Schweethearts were riding along relaxing and enjoying the lovely sunflower fields, boom, an alien rock hurls at them disturbing their peaceful journey. Definitely this crack is very strange. The pictures of the fields, so serene, and the sunrise so beautiful, and peace restored. I can feel your excitement building to see Tracy and Daryl again. So happy for you will get to spend time together. Enjoy your day. Love, Celia
A lot of sunflower seeds for everyone- other than that I don’t know why they grow them, but they are beautiful. Your trip is all it ‘cracked’ up to be. Sorry, couldn’t help the pun, but I know you will get it taken care of safely. Enjoying traveling with you. Thanks for the pictures. Love you, Sharon
What a wild windshield crack! I see a lot of those at work but never one in a circle like that! So cool! Happy to see the Shweethearts still keeping you company
