we saw our 49th state capitol building yesterday. and it didn’t disappoint. all capitols have a rich history behind them. it would be boring to a lot of people, but i find them fascinating. we see and have seen a lot of beautiful, interesting and historic places that i like to share the pictures i take with you. places that you may never see, or have seen that bring back pleasant memories.
so here are those pictures of this historic building witch laid the cornerstone in 1908 and opened in 1910. it took 2 years to build costing 2 million dollars – then.

and now you have seen the south dakota state capitol building
stay tuned to see the our 50th and final state capitol building
jilly
Your presentation of the building is really impressive Jilly. And along with the pomp the selfie of you and Jerry and the one of your feet in the building! I like the reverence you have for capitols.
Thanks again Jilly, now I don’t have to go there either. Save a lot of Gas…
I did think it was worth seeing.

I was very impressed with the capitol building and loved the shot of you guys on the steps. So magnificent inside the walls and especially loved the beautiful hallways. You captured for me it’s beauty and I enjoyed your story of the history very much. Thanks, Celia
They really knew how to build buildings in those days. It’s beautiful.
It seems like no matter how economically small a state is, they manage to build magnificent capitol buildings. (South Dakota is ranked #46, based on GDP.) Very interesting.
Happy Birthday to Tracy! How wonderful that you all are together to celebrate Tracy’s day!
Nice campground too
