we took the elevator to the 102nd floor to the one world observatory. it went very quickly i might add.

there is a very dramatic opening of the view you will ultimately see as you wait to enter the area with the 360 degree views (i didn’t get that picture). this is one of the first pictures i took as i walked in. it was a little overcast for my camera, but being there – was incredible. the hudson river is on the left and the east river is on the right.

in person it was beautiful
as you walk around that floor, the breathtaking views are…….well, breathtaking.

this is the top of the mall building amy. they patterned it after the sides of the original world trade center building, check it out
this picture is looking towards new jersey.
i’ve asked martha and ray, you to if you want to karl, to send me some of their pictures. they have apple iphones which take beautiful pictures. i’ll post those later since mine aren’t so good.
we went to dinner at the one world restaurant around 5pm. kassandra joined us. she’s a hoot, just like her father and grandfather. we had more gorgeous views from here as we ate, the lights were coming on in the city. i was having so much fun, i didn’t even take any pictures. except this one.

our entree was crispy skin salmon that melted in your mouth. jerry had coconut creme brule for desert. and i had two -yes two- espresso martinis. thank you karl and sandy for a great day in new york. it was wonderful. “happy birthday sandy”
not sure what’s next, but stay tuned. jilly
ps. i want to give credit where credit is due. karl sent me the picture of martha’s crashed cart the other day. remember when ray just had to touch the yellow lever on martha’s cart. i was in looking in the window of a bakery and missed the moment.
karl’s caption to the picture was “curiosity killed the cart”!
You are the best…!!
so much fun and lots of laughter
I’d say you did justice to a fantastical evening- and you introduced me to my first, but certainly not my last, espresso martini. This is a magical trip and a great deal of that magic is you and Jerry and you pour so much of that aura into your adventure blog.
Hey Ray, a best can tell another best when they see one! 💋
We make magic together.
That food looks good! Yum!
love, amy

Glad you had another great day in NY.
Your pictures are good and photos can never capture the scene perfectly, but your words painted a picture and we were there vicariously. Sounds like one of the best vacations ever.
How did being that high make you feel? I don’t think I could get anywhere near the windows. Amazing what puny little humans can build!
Is that building as high as the World Trade Center towers were? I remember looking down from the top of one of the towers – when you’re that high up it seems like gravity will pull you down. Did you feel that?
I’m having flashbacks to Mon Ami Gabi with that espresso martini picture!
