we went through the town of brownsville first. i read of a couple of thing to see there.
i saw this old starting gate in a field. probably to train horses.

i used the second one from the left to wash your diapers tracy.
at least it wasn’t this one. anybody else?

this rock house in brownsville wasn’t open on tuesdays. i would have liked to go in it.

even the weeds are pretty up here. the weed on the right photo bombed my picture.

the moyer house wasn’t opened either. darn.

we made it to sweet home. all these small towns have these gorgeous flowers all through the town.
stay tuned for the covered bridge
Grandma had a ringer washing machine in the old wash house. I can remember her washing clothes in hot steamy water while she sang the old hymns – her voice wasn’t good but she sang with her heart. She was in her late 50’s or early 60’s. . .and we thought she was old! Love your pictures, Jill, they capture the moment and you get a feel for the place. Actually in makes me want to be there with you. LvU
Mom had a wringer washer and I can remember watching with fascination while she wrung out sheets and then ironed them on the mangle. Our kids and grandkids won’t know what the heck I’m talking about., but you took me back there. Sorry the sites were closed in Brownsville, but I loved that you showed the beautiful pathway. The flowers in the median so gorgeous, and, you’re right, even the weeds were lovely.
Oh yeah – thanks for washing my diapers, Mom. π I would love to see the inside of that Moyer house.
