florence was a very nice town. we didn’t need a campground so we asked at a safeway if we could park overnight. they said sure, just go over on the right side. no problem. just saved $40. a lot of the campgrounds are full because of “eclipse weekend’.
florence’s back yard is the oregon dunes national recreation area. a 40 mile long area for dune buggys, 4 wheel drive vehicles, atv’s, and horses. of course people too. it’s a vast area of sand that has hills and valley’s in every configuration. to say the least it’s beautiful. and we got to see it in style. that’s what i wanted for my birthday and i got it.
ok, lets go

going up a hill was the scariest. you think what was going to be on the other side?
it was so much fun. i don’t know why but i laughed the whole time. i was having so much fun, fun, fun! we’re a little sore this morning but not bad.
i’ll tell you where we ate in the next blog
stay tuned
Wheeee – what an exciting way to celebrate your birthday. Looks like so much fun – fun – fun.
Looked like you guys were having the time of your life going up and down the hills and valleys on the Dunes. Must have been such a rush, and exciting holding hands while romping in that buggy together. I love your smile in the one shot, Jill. There was no doubt you were having a blast. You guys have got guts, Enjoy, and I know you will. Sis

Way to go – a birthday adventure! Love it!
Have been on the road ourselves, just saw this. You two are so spunky!! Happy belated birthday and many more to come!
Good morning, you two!! When my kids were pre-teenagers, we owned, eventually, two dune buggys. We enjoyed creeping to the top of dunes from San Luis Obispo to the Mexican border. We had an eighteen foot travel trailer that we kept down at Anza Borrego for a couple of years. We have dinner at home in Downey on a Friday night, the kids would crawl into the back of the camper and Richard would drive to the Anza Borrego campground. We’d get there by ten p.m., pull in beside the trailer, open windows in both, play a couple hands of cards. before going to bed. We’d leave for home about 4 p.m. on Sunday, stop in what is now Olde Towne Tmecula for supper and be home by 8 p.m. Traffic obviously wasn’t as bad as today. But it was SO much fun. Although I have to say that I SCREAMED as we went up the dunes rather than laughing. I’m so glad you had a good time on your birthday! We’ll celebrate again with a dinner at the Petroleum Club when you get home. Yours AND mine. Love, Kara
No cute helmet pictures, but ADORABLE goggle pictures. I am so jealous that looks awesome! Love the holding hands picture. Miss you! We will definitely have to try something like this!
