to begin with it was a very dreary day.
there is a lot of construction going on and one way streets, road closures, people jaywalking and bikes in the way to maneuver through quickly. in a car it would be bad enough, but in the coach? Β it took over an hour to go across town to the golden gate bridge.
a few pictures i took on the way

check out that guy’s hair. it’s in a big ball at the end.

a purple house? only in san francisco.

oh, and a police closure for the bomb squad to do it’s stuff that had us going around in circles trying to get to the bridge. which took over an hour to do.
we finally made it to the iconic orange masterpiece. it was still foggy.

i still remember the time we walked on it to the other side and back. a pleasant memory.

we gained our calm back as we drove to santa rosa 2 hours behind schedule. the beautiful trees have a way of doing that.

we met kara’s daughter, evalynne, in a parking lot at 4:00 and quickly unloaded her box. it was like a drug deal or something. we hugged and said good-bye wanting to get to cloverdale to spend the night. i didn’t even take a picture. sorry kara.
we did make it to cloverdale but the campgrounds were kind of sketchy. we came upon a bible study group at the fairground campground, which was $50 a night for a cement slab. a nice lady told jerry to call the police and they would tell us where to park. they did and we did. right on hwy 101 with all the big rigs. hey, it was free.
we drove into ft.bragg the next day.
stay tuned
What a nightmare getting through all those obstacles and traffic. It breaks my heart to see what has happened to San Francisco – we oldies remember how wonderful it used to be. I mentioned your Schweethearts to someone at women’s meeting at church this morning – and there they are. Hope the rest of your trip is smooth sailing.
The whole thing sounds like a television show plot. You guys drive hand in hand through life’s escapades and find the heart in every scene. it’s fun to tag along on the ride.
I’d rather smell the cow maneuver on five then to go through Golden gate Bridge on one oh one on my way. I really hate that trip to San Francisco. I was very glad to see the trees on the other side it reminds me of beautiful. Have fun with looking forward to trip ourselves
Sorry Frisco was so frustrating. Kudus to you for coming out of your ordeal unscathed. Doesn’t entice one to visit. Those trees must have looked pretty good to you. Thanks for sharing the purple house. I guess you’re right, it does seem in place there. Happy trails the rest of your adventure. Love, Celia
WOW! San Fransisco is really pretty! Those building look super cool in the fog. And that is a lot of pigeons the guy was feeding. Those tall tress are very pretty! The Golden Gate Bridge reminds me of when I went to San Fransisco. It was really foggy and we couldn’t even see the top! π Looks like all of your little monkey friends are having fun in the car! I love that picture!
Lots of Love, Amy
Yep, those Bible study groups are real sketchy. I’m glad you didn’t risk staying near them! π
