we left the hotel at 9:30, riding in a limo to the coach parking lot, as it is a ways away. we got a ride to the hotel also, but only in a security guys truck.
tracy had to leave by 2:00. she was hungry so we went to a jack-in-the-box, which they don’t have in grand forks. she ordered her favorite’s, tacos and onion rings.
this isn’t a picture of that, but i had to get this picture in somewhere.

there is a saver’s thrift store on the way out of town and right near the airport that jerry and i always stop at. tracy had some time before her flight so we went by. tracy got a lot of nice things for her new job. she was very happy.
but that turned to sadness as we had to leave her at the departure gate, with not enough time to say a proper good-bye.
we saw a sign for this store from the freeway as we left. it’s new and we have never been in it. i found some good stuff one of then being a brand new trash can for .99 cents.

and after that, look what they have in las vegas now. our favorite cross country place to eat. we had the catfish, with pinto beans, turnip greens, and hashbrown casserole on the side. dee-licious. it’s only been open a month. i think they picked a good spot for it. it was packed.

it was 4:00 when we finished. i looked in the store but only bought some dentyne gum. do you know how hard that is to find?
we started on that long drive everyone talks about and hates. we saw all the same things we saw on the way up, but in reverse.
i tried to get a close-up of one of three towers at the solar place for you sharon. i’m going to go online and see why those lights on top are so bright.

this picture is one of the ever changing landscapes in las vegas. this is what is left of the riviara and the block it was part of.

we got home about 9pm. the traffic was unbelievable on the freeways. i don’t think jerry touched the brake the whole time. we only stopped once for gas once.
i want to add one more picture. our wonderful neighbors to the north, gave me a very generous birthday gift to spend in las vegas. i bought a very extravagant item i’ve always wanted. (eat your heart out martha and ted), it’s an swar0vski crystal star. this picture doesn’t even show how beautiful it is. thank you frank and linda. and also thank you for keeping our cats and house safe. and the delicious meals we had waiting in the fridge. we love you guys.

thank you all for the great comments. i loved all of them. glad you found the picture of the fountains ray.
it was a great trip. three generations of women celebrating different stages of their lives. at 21 i had two kids and my father passed away. at 53 my mother had been gone 5 years. both things i didn’t wish for them.
love to all of you.
jerry and jill
p.s. we leave for reno in october. stay tuned.
