we decided to take a week and go somewhere for valentines day. so we packed up the coach and are now headed for Monterey. we left yesterday and will be gone until next sunday.
our first stop was the ‘hitching post’. it’s such a nice way to start a trip. our favorite waitress wasn’t working but we got our favorite table. right by the bbq pit. we had the baby back ribs. yummy. we stayed in their lot for the night again.
we woke to rain on the roof. we knew it would rain, but it was too late to cancel our reservations at the inn in pacific grove. since we’ve been in every type of weather in the coach for 23 years now, we drove on. a little rain won’t stop us.
the ostrich farm on the road to solvang has increased in size and numbers of ostrich. there are a lot of grape vines where horses used to roam also.
we had breakfast in solvang and then went to the ‘old mission of santa ines’. it’s right at the end of town.
I love these old missions. I didn’t pay attention in school, but i’m sure paying attention now.
remember, when it rains you get rainbows

On the road again… Have a lovely adventure! Remember the ostrich that wanted to get the button on your sweater at the wild animal park??
I didn’t know ostriches were that big! Beautiful rainbow. I look forward to sharing your trip with you. – Sharon
Love the rainbow, have a good trip and we will see you soon.
You two are a pair to draw to. That coach is like Cinderella’s pumpkin- you find magic everywhere you go and all wrapped up in a rainbow. Jerry slipped that glass slipper on your foot and you’ve never looked back.
Good morning, you two! Pretty photos of some places I’ve never seen. I have a favor to ask of you–as usual. While you are ‘garbaging’ in those great thrift shops you always seem to find, if you find some more paper like the ream you brought me last time, please buy it and I’ll reimburse you. I’m planning to use this you just gave me for flyers for the Inn to be included with the bills we send out each quarter. The colored paper is great as everyone ignores plain white stuff any more. A big favor, I know, but maybe another trip to PFChangs? Love, Kara
I ate an ostrich burger at Fuddrucker’s once. It was pretty good – like a cross between chicken and pork.
we’ve had ostrich at the hitching post before. we didn’t like it very much.
I never got around to replying to all of you.
kara, I’ve been looking, but haven’t found any. I have a lot of paper at home you can come look at.
we have found some pretty neat things along the road in our pumpkin. a lot of neat rainbows ray, but can’t always get a picture.
ostrich’s are very big and can be intimidating too. I remember when one tried to take my button.
Ah, the Hitching Post. So envious, could almost smell the Santa Rosa baby backs. Glad you could enjoy. I think it is your place. The mission pictures were lovely, and the Solvang Windmill so familiar
