midas knew we were leaving him again and watched us carefully as we loaded the coach. we took our time and he got tired so he just went to sleep on the porch.
the drive to bakersfield is pretty boring, as most of you know. the view does get better when you turn on hwy 178 to the lake. we realized we had never been on this road.
it was a long tedious road for jerry to drive. he had to watch for the outcroppings along our side of the road
we made it to the lake and weren’t to impressed. this is where we camped and you can barely see the water. you used to be able to launch your boats here.
i saw this store as we were driving the next day and made (asked) jerry turn around to take a picture for sharon. it was out in the middle of nowhere in the city of onyx. I don’t know what the store was selling. it was closed.
the desert can be pretty if you look for pretty
it can be interesting if you look for interesting.
as we approached hwy 395 from hwy 178 we saw this enormus area of red off in the distance. the city was inyokern.
if you want to see what it was
stay turned

I never have seen lake Isabella looking this low. we used to go water skiing up there.
I like the Kern river in that area and wish you had went up on it. I think you would love it.
Have a good safe trip and keep sending us at home all the news.
You find pearls and you find… well NOT pearls, but your narrative and snapshots of life always is a pearl.
Nice heart in the hills!
Thanks for the pictures of Rose of Sharon and Hope. Those concepts are among my favorite. I HOPE you have a wonderful journey to Yosemite and back – Sharon
I sent a comment but it didn’t take. I resent it and it said I already said that. Que paso’? Anyway thanks for the pictures of Hope and Rose of Sharon – Sharon.
Oh – there they are.
Your pictures reminded me of living in Palmdale. The desert can be pretty for sure. That picture of Midas is too cute.
oh how nice to see all these comments. we’ll try the kern river next time ray. want to come along?
your words are pearls to me Martha.
wow, thee comments. thanks Sharon.
I can spot a heart anywhere tony.
the desert is even prettier in the right light. right michelle? midas is a cutie.
So glad you are doing your blog this trip, thank you, Jill. Your heart is as big as the one you captured on the hill. The rocky road with the outcroppings reminded me of the Lucille Ball classic, “The Long, Long Trailer.”
thanks celia. I loved the long long trailer as a kid. now i’m living it.
Long, long trailer… do you have a coach full of rocks? Probably heart shaped rocks, eh?
we do have quite a few now. of course there are some hearts.
