this was such a nice little town. not cute, not charming, not romantic. just friendly. looks like a nice town to be born in and stay there the rest of your life. as the volunteers in the ‘unexpected treasure’ thrift store were. we met her and her twin sister last time we were there.
it hadn’t changed any. I found some books for the girls. the twin on the left was there. the other only works on Wednesday.
the hardware store across the street was out of the past too. it had up to date stuff to sell, but a lot of old stuff was all over the place.
we had a hard time finding the ‘hedge creek falls’. this may be why. the sign was kind of sideways, not facing the street.
it wasn’t very far to reach the falls.
I guess it looks better after a rain.
we also went to the sacramento river access under the bridge.
the train tracks went along the river. Dunsmuir still has an amtrack station.
in town I couldn’t pass up a chance to take a picture of a cat.
we we’re driving out of town when we saw the familiar smoke of a barbeque. in the local grocery store parking lot, a man was out cooking what turned out to be the best baby back ribs I have ever tasted. wow!
I hope we can find some more of those somewhere.
stay tuned

Sounds like one of those take it easy stops to enjoy the unfamiliar familiar. It warms my heart to see a family sized hardware store open instead of a monolithic franchise having killed it off. Nice trail to the falls even if the falls need water. I can smell the baby back ribs from here!
you hit the nail on the head Martha. it was one of those days.
I see you found some more blue dick. keep up the search.
it’s a very rare flower.
Looks like you really enjoyed the town that has stayed the same; Dunsmuir so friendly, and fun stores. What a nice walk to the falls. Interesting pic of the cat. I miss that great BBQ.
it’s amazing what you find off the highway.
What a beautiful day! I like the composition of the cat photo. Did you get the recipe for the ribs?
thanks tony, I liked that one too.
no, but I think dad is going to call the store and try to get it.
