another road less traveled
August 4, 2014 by jillyandjerry
we got off hwy97 and took the lesser traveled hwy99.

our first stop was Lillooet, a first nation territory. we found this fabulous campground. you could walk to the little beach it had.

jerry got out his metal detector and found iron ore

and hopefully a piece of jade

you can also pan for gold

I found some old mine remnants

there was an old wooden foot bridge

with an osprey nest on top

it was so beautiful, we decided to stay another night.
so stay tuned
You must feel a little like explorers. Very interesting & beautiful. I hope you found some jade. – Sharon.
I’m reading these backwards- see why you didn’t decamp with the boulders. Beautiful country, beautiful landscape shots.
Wow – 4 days to travel 280 miles in a stage coach! That is a really beautiful area. Also, I’m sorry but I think “First Nation” is kinda lame – sounds like a radical extremist group. I think Native American is more dignified and accurate. When they refer to themselves do they say “I am a First Nation” or “I am a First National” …”Nationist” … “Nationite”??
sometimes it does seem like were on survivor. so much fun to explore.
wordpress posted them in the wrong order.
very funny tony. one of the men we talked to said he calls himself a native.
