the 17 mile ice field that feeds the mendenhall glacier. the little rectangle by the green is the visitor center

Has the glacier gotten smaller? They say that it is happening everywhere. Just wondering. Love the blog – Sharon.

Nice building. 200 year old ice? How does that work? Do they dig down somewhere in the glacier and pull out a new piece every day?

yes a lot smaller. and it is happening everywhere. maybe just a natural thing that the world is speeding up.
there is ice floating in the lake they use. it’s very clear.
