we stopped for the night at elk country campground right outside the redwood national park. the Roosevelt elk like to hang out here in the afternoon. you can see them from the road so a lot of people stop to take pictures. we saw them our last trip too, but didn’t stay.
after checking in, we picked our spot across the street from the elk, and we discovered the horses.
we met the owner of the horses and found out she gives horse rides in the park. so we made our reservations for the next day. I couldn’t wait to get on a horse again.
but there’s still more to come, so stay tuned

Some really good shots! You and Jerry looked like real cowboys… and er girl…and er woman- Tomorrow you ride the elks?
they haven’t started that yet. but they do seem pretty tame. crazy people were even trying to feed them.
This is the best trip yet. I am so clad to on it with you.
But don’t want to ride horse.
we are just getting ready to leave this camp and thought i’d see if I heard from you, because I know how much you like horses also. you’re missing one of the best parts of the horse ray. I had the same fear and still do, but it’s the best feeling to hold the reins and say giddy-up. and he goes. pull left and he goes left. pull right and he goes right. pull back and he stops. kick him and he goes faster. and he outweighs me by a mile. control ray, control.
NO WAY that sounds awesome. The one of you two on the horses in front of the trees is just gorgeous
that tree was really old, and really big. the ride was so much fun. we hope to ride again on the beach’s here.
What an awesome way to see the redwoods! Any risk of bear attacks in a campground like that?
yes, there are bears in the woods. I don’t think they come out to often. but sis said she has seen them on her rides of 25 years.
