we slept very well in the arcosanti parking lot, out in the middle of nowhere. we had breakfast in the cafe before leaving. (we also bought another bell, for jerry). it’s a strange place, but i like it. the originator died last year, at 94, but his visions go on. you can tell the resident’s really believe in it.
we had fun on the trip back to phoenix. stopping at a few thrift stores. we needed to take showers so we found a campground. the office was already closed, so we picked a spot and went to bed.

we got up and took showers, and the office still wasn’t open. nobody to pay and we wanted to leave. that’s happend before and there’s not much we can do.
we made our way to chet and marilyn’s house in chandler. we hadn’t seen them in a long time. chet was the president of sales at pbi. now he’s working and doing quite well in selling huge vacuum systems for commercial clients, like Costco for example. they have done some remodeling on their house since we saw it last. they told us it started out just wanting to put a cat door in for buddy their cat. $$$$$$$ later, the cat can go out to a screened in patio anytime it wants to now. they treated us to lunch at applebees and we had a very nice visit.
we headed out intending to make it to quartzite that night. but on the way out of phoenix we spotted a goodwill clearance center. they sell things out of big bins for $.99 cents a pound. needless to say we didn’t make it to quartzite that night. we found a cracker barrel and spent the night.

That arcosanti place is really intriguing. Colby would love that screened in cat door and patio. You have a real knack for picking pictures for this blog… and finding Goodwill sales it seems! Did you ever reach Quartzite?
yes we did last night.
you have the perfect place to put a cat door. right there by rays desk.
If I have not told you before your friends are a good example of why I don’t start little projects around the house. Better to just open the door and put the cat out and never let it back in.
I am clad you took a shower.
Love to you both.
yes, showers feel so good while camping. even though some of them are pretty crappy.
I think Colby would love a cat door.
Very entertaining – thanks. Love it. Sharon.
thanks for commenting sharon. I know what we do isn’t for everyone, so the blog let’s you see a different part of the USA. the one we like.
Very cool cafe. I agree with Ray – let the cat out and never back in… filthy, self-centered, ungrateful, miscreants!
shame on you tony. remember you saved lucky and brought him to us.
miscreants?
Well… when a helpless animal is in front of you, you have to help it, right? But notice I brought him to YOU – not to my home! They have their moments, but overall not desirable to me. (or Ray, apparently!)
cat lovers see cats as clean, as they clean themselves all the time. cat haters see them as dirty, rat caching, flea infested animals. I prefer to be the first one. but you were always nice to my cats.
Of course! They are living beings – I can’t help but be nice to them when they are in my presence. But from a distance, I prefer to… well… keep the distance! 🙂
that’s ok tony. I still love you. as much as my cats. ha ha
